Artists donate their talent to the 'Empty Bowls' project.
Portsmouth's 'Empty Bowls' fundraising event has sold out again for the 8th year running. The event which takes place on 6th December at St Simon's Church in Southsea brings together 100 people who paid a suggested donation of £17.50. Ticket holders select and keep a hand decorated bowl, eat homemade soup and freshly baked bread from Bread Addiction.
All proceeds raised go to charitable projects at St Simon's who support the homeless and asylum seekers.
Southern Ceramic Group (SCG) member Lynn Nicholls and St Simon's Church volunteer Louise Roulston started the project 8 years ago and have been overwhelmed with the generous response from local people and businesses towards this excellent cause.
This year special thanks goes to SCG, their members and Fatclay Pottery Studio in Castle Rd who have facilitated the production of 100 soup bowl.
For the first time this year some of Portsmouth's most prominent artists have hand decorated bowls that will be auctioned to raise further funds and help to make the project sustainable for 2025.
